Job Title: Sound & Gaffer for Documentary Research Team

Overview: North Star Studios & Productions is a leading documentary film production company, creating high-quality films that inspire, educate and entertain audiences around the world. We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Sound & Grip Technician for our documentary projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing top-quality sound recording and lighting during filming, ensuring that the highest level of technical excellence is achieved. This is a permanent staff position.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain sound equipment, including microphones, mixers, and recorders.
Set up lighting equipment and create lighting design for various shots.
Collaborate with the director and other members of the production team to ensure that the visual and audio elements of the film are consistent with the vision of the project.
Handle all aspects of sound recording, including syncing sound with video and monitoring audio levels.
Manage all aspects of lighting, including color temperature, intensity, and placement to create desired effects.
Coordinate with other members of the production team to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and that all safety protocols are followed.
Provide technical support as needed to the director and other members of the team.

Requirements:

3+ years of experience as a Sound & Gaffer in documentary or narrative film production.
Knowledge of sound recording and lighting equipment, including microphones, mixers, recorders, lighting kits, and grip equipment.
Familiarity with various types of cameras and camera accessories.
Understanding of sound and lighting design principles and techniques.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Detail-oriented and able to work well under pressure.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
