Overview: North Star Studios & Productions is a leading documentary film production company, creating high-quality films that inspire, educate, and entertain audiences around the world. We are seeking a talented and experienced Cinematographer to join our documentary team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for visual storytelling, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of creative professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the director and other members of the production team to develop the visual style of the film.

  • Plan and execute the visual aspects of the production, including camera placement, shot composition, and lighting design.

  • Operate various types of cameras and camera accessories to capture high-quality footage, including handheld, stabilized, and drone-mounted cameras.

  • Ensure that all shots are properly framed and focused, with appropriate exposure and color balance.

  • Work with the sound team to ensure that all visual and audio elements of the film are consistent with the vision of the project.

  • Manage all aspects of camera and lighting equipment, including maintenance, storage, and transport.

  • Provide technical support as needed to the director and other members of the team.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a cinematographer in documentary or narrative film production.

  • Strong portfolio of work showcasing a range of visual styles and techniques.

  • Expertise in using various types of cameras, lenses, and camera accessories, as well as lighting equipment.

  • Familiarity with different genres and styles of documentary filmmaking.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
