Job Title: Film Camera Operator for Documentary Team

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Film Camera Operator to join our documentary team at Theia Productions and North Star Studios. The successful candidate will be responsible for capturing high-quality footage using traditional film cameras, collaborating with the director and cinematographer, and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. This is a full-time position based in our North Bay location.

Responsibilities:

Work with the director and cinematographer to capture high-quality footage that meets the creative vision for the documentary.
Set up and operate traditional film cameras and related equipment.
Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and that any issues are promptly addressed.
Collaborate with the director and cinematographer to create a shooting schedule and ensure that all shots are captured on time and on budget.
Monitor and adjust lighting, framing, and focus during filming.
Review footage regularly to ensure that it meets the required technical and creative standards.
Ensure that all footage is properly labeled, stored, and backed up.
Stay up-to-date with new camera technologies and techniques.

Requirements:

At least 2 years of experience as a film camera operator.
Strong technical skills, including expertise in traditional film cameras and related equipment.
Experience working on documentary projects.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Flexibility to work long hours and travel as required.
Experience with post-production workflows is a plus.
